Miami!

I am sure you all are very keen to know how my studies are going. First of all I did the mistake to listen to LMFAO:s album while studying so now I I am devastated as I am not in Miami (bitch). I am also devastated by the fact that I will not have enough money to go to Miami in a long time. But hey at least I am studying! It seems like my goal to be able to see my girls tomorrow afternoon for a walk around Djurgården is working! Taking walks around that lovely island was one of my favourite ways to spend my time before I moved to Lidköping. Now I have not walked there yet since I came home from Nelson. Actually there is a lot of things I have not done yet.

Well - I have been in Santa Monica (bitch).

Studying = untz untzing

Thank God it is Friday. There is so much in my head at the moment. Yesterday I realized that I have to start making some  future choices - but I already made one! My week at World Volunteer has been filled with new tasks as our other intern will work her last day next week. I have also been taking part in some translation work and writing sales material for partners. And of course I have been tweeting (tweet tweet!). There is also some other very exiting things going on within World Volunteer but we will see how we will work them out before I say more...

Tomorrow I will be studying - for real. Earlier the studying has actually been a code for untz untzing, or as old people say, partying. But tomorrow it is time to sharp up my brain and do the last analysis so that I thereafter can start look forward.

Memories take us back and dreams take us forward. This is me right now. In the background? My bed. Off to bed yeah!

Saving...

Tomorrow I will have some money at my account again. Being a student is not an economical dream so thank god that I am! Not.

This month I have been going out too much. I think that the untz untz has to slow down a bit. But hey! I just came home and needed some fun to cheer up myslef with. Now: Back to the poor reality.

Eurovision week

This morning I woke up two hours earlier than I use to. This because I have several things to get done this week; studies and CV:s, not to mention taking care of myself. I want to get rid of all must do's as soon as possible just in case something spontanous and fun would happen. And to have time for the Eurovision this week. Of course.

The best city in the world is not located in the best country (which is New Zealand for those who did not realize that) bu in France. Paris in my heart. I love Europe.

I love the music in Eurovision and watching the TV program just makes me want to get out travelling. But no eurotrip for me this summer!

Tweeting

I must say, once and for all, that I really like Twitter. I am not addicted to it. Yet. I am not obsessed with tweeting myself or either reading others tweets. I just think that the phenomenon Twitter is impressive. I am amazed about how easy it is to start a conservation with people you do not know no matter who they are. Not to mention all jobs that are announced on Twitter. Twitter is really useful but I am still addicted to Facebook and a totally blog lover. I am a social media girl.

It is crazy how much time we spend in front of our computers each day but it is also crazy how much we get done thanks to them. But I still love computer free days!

Good days, bad days, this day

Good days, bad days, Swedish days, sunny days and this day. A Sunday in Stockholm when the sun is shining and the future is far away but still close enough to bring my mood up.  And I am listening to Markus Krunegård while my body is craving for kayaking. Memories take us back and dreams take us forward.

I did not live in Australia!

Today I attended to a B-day party downtown and I was happy to see some of my old class mates. I can hardly remember when I saw them and as usual we had a lot to talk about. I almost missed out of dinner because we had so much to tell each other. I hope I will be able to see them at least a few times more this summer as I do not know for sure if I am staying here or not. What more can I say than that I am happy to have friends that make me feel this way. Even though they ask me how it was in Australia - lol!

Public holiday

Today is a public holiday in Sweden so I am actually not at the office. I am sitting in front of my laptop at home instead, working with a list of private things (by private I mean not work/internship/World Volunteer related) combined with studies. I felt that I needed a short break now after lunch and I will probably need a nap later as I did not sleep more than 3 hours this night (I went out with my wingmen to try some new dance moves).

This is that kind of day when the one cup of coffee rule is non existing!

Sustainable tourism/responsible travel

One of the subjects that interest me most is sustainable tourism or even more responsible travel. We had a course about it last year and I cannot stop reading things about it. Poor Marie had to walk through the getthos in Vietnam just because I wanted to see what the huge hotel buildings actually were hiding (the locals). After a several "are you lost mam?" we returned to the tourist area, me at least trying to find us a local restaurant to eat at so that the the Vietnamese in (awful) Nha Trang would earn some money from us using their home.

I also visited beautiful Cambodia as I was in Asia so this article really caught my interest while doing World Volunteer research.

Stockholm

Great sleep! Great walk! Great sun! Great lunch! Great Twitter research!

Since I returned to my home town I have been quite low. Stockholm has not delivered but now when I think about it maybe it is not the citys’ fault. I am still eager to run out in the world doing something I love (right now I am still trying to figure out if that is a good decision) but I have also realized that the summer is quite long and I am not there yet. It is time to start loving Stockholm again. And today is a great day to start!

Manifesto

My fourth week at World Volunteer has now started and yes, time flyes by! That means I am probably enjoying myself and that the summer should be here any day! But it means also that it will soon be time for some changes and I am still not sure about what to do. Or even more how?

The only thing I am 100 % sure of is to follow my heart and do something I think is fun. I am not interested in what people think I should do, I have never been and that is probably why it worked so well this far.

The Holstee manifesto is one of the new things my new work has introduced to me and I must say I love it.

Weekend is over

The weekend is over!
Since my Indian dinner with Tussis I have continued working with Twitter, doing some volunteer related research and received a "oh yeah e mail"before heading home for the weekend which I spent with Tessan drinking wine, watching really old photos (feeling old oh yes!), cleaning, walking, dancing and drinking coffee. I am aware of that the word studying is not included but this because I really have had a lot of other things going on. Now I have booked a study weekend with myself which means that I have to say no to whatever it is people will ask me about to join them to do. I have to finish my school stuff so I can concentrate on my future.

Tussis and I

Today is another office day. For me it means that I will try to finish a lot of the stuff I currently have at my desk to later on have a dinner with Tussis. Tussis and I worked together before I even had thought of what the definition for cultural tourism possibly could be.

The rest of the week? Catching up with myself and trying to do something about this restless body. Because next week I have a lot of things going on!

By the way, have I told you that my office actually is an old church, for real! This is what I see in the ceiling.

We who live here are good looking

Todays AW was at Scandic Anglais as a magazine for young women held an event there to discuss how we see ourselves and how we look at our bodies. I attended as I think the topic is very important so I wanted to be supportive but I also have an interest in working with events (which I did the whole last summer). It is actually quite crazy how many women (and men) complain over there bodies, especially here! Because seriously, after all countries I have been to, the most good looking women do live here, in Stockholm. No competition!

Jessica is that kind of a woman who probably makes you laugh. She is a Swede with a passion for travelling and writing. While she is waiting for Lonely Planet to employ her she studies cultural tourism and has just finished one semester in Nelson New Zealand. This summer you can read all about her internship at World Volunteer in one of the most trendy capitals in Europe - also known as her home town, Stockholm.
